Craft Requirements (CORE)

CORE 1003,  Core Industry Safety  (3 Credit Hours)  
3 lecture hours per week, 3 contact hours per week  
Covers the basics of safety, communication, and employability skills for students skilled craft programs. The course introduces common hand and power tools, material handling, as well as construction calculations and drawings. Successful completion of this course is the gateway to RPCC’s skilled craft programs. Students successfully completing all parts of this course earn the Core Curriculum industry-based certification from the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER). Successful completion of the course requires passing all module/unit exams (written exams with a minimum score of 70%, and performance of skills with Pass). This course requires a fee for module exams.

Prerequisite(s): (INST 1011* and ETRN 1112*) or (HACR 1210*, 1220*, 1230* and 1240*) or (IMMT 1120*, 1143* and MWRT 1310*).
* May be taken concurrently.
